When the Lebanon Strawberry Festival Association, Inc. was formed in 1984 as a not-for-profit organization with the sole purpose of assuming the responsibility of planning and orchestrating the Strawberry Festival each year, it did so with an entirely volunteer staffed Board of Directors. That is one of the traditions of Strawberry Festival that hasn't changed.
In addition to over 40 board positions, which represent the leaders of over 20 different committees, there are teams of volunteers working with each committee to execute the planning of that section of Strawberry Festival Marketing, Junior Parade, Entertainment, Sponsors, Vendors... There are many teams working together year-round to ensure all parts of Strawberry Festival are successful.
The saying “It takes a village...” applies to Strawberry Festival as well. During the week of Strawberry Festival, our Board Members and Committee Members get joined by a small army of volunteers to help serve as our Event Staff. Some participate as part of a civic group, others because they love Strawberry Festival and want to serve their community. Some just want to know what it's all about. There are a wide variety of tasks—helping the site crew set up barricades and tables, helping in the parking lots, monitoring the entry gates, and so much more. There is something for everyone wanting to get involved.
Our event truly wouldn't be possible without our amazing team of volunteers, and we strive to make sure they know they are appreciated. All of our Volunteer team gets a complimentary event t-shirt for 4-minimum hours served. And we like to take it a step further than many events... by providing access to our special “Volunteer Hospitality” area. It is exclusively for our volunteers, and our Hospitality Team treats us with amazing meals, snacks, and cold beverages. It's a private volunteer-oasis at the heart of Strawberry Festival.
