The Mascots’ names are a true reflection of the history and tradition the Strawberry Festival has in Lebanon. A.J.'s name was selected to memorialize the founding fathers of the Strawberry Festival, incorporating the initials of Andrew M. Reeves and Joel C. Mayer. Ida's name is in honor of the very first Queen who reigned over the festivities in 1909, Queen Ida Devine.
It takes a team of volunteers to bring A.J. and Ida to life during Strawberry Festival events, and we are happy to be able to expand our scholarship opportunities to include the members of our Mascot Team. Selected volunteers will serve during approximately 10 events during Strawberry Festival and the months leading up to it, and will be awarded a $500 scholarship to the school of their choice in appreciation of their efforts. A.J. and Ida Berry have quickly won the hearts of the youth in Lebanon—and of a lot of the adults too! If you would like to be a part of this fun and engaging volunteer opportunity, please consider applying to be a part of our Mascot Team.
