There will be 4 age categories. Ages 3-6; Ages 7–11; Ages 12-17; Ages 18 and up.
There will be 12 contestants in each category. When an age group has reached 12 registrants, that group will be closed.
Contestants may register at the event if space is available in their age group.
You must provide your date of birth and also choose the correct age category on the entry form in order to be qualified for the contest. Contestants under 18 must have a parent or guardian present with them at the contest to sign a waiver.
Contestants (along with parent/guardian if under 18) must check in at the Shortcake table 15 minutes prior to their event time noted on the registration form.
At the start of the contest, each contestant will be given a shortcake topped with Strawberries and whipped cream.
Contestants may use their hands (or utensil provided) throughout the entire contest.
The Festival Board will provide ONE bottle of water.
The first person to eat the entire shortcake, will be declared the winner. Or the person who has eaten the most shortcake in a 2-minute time limit for adults.
In the kids’ contests if no one has eaten the entire shortcake within a 3 minute period, the contestant who has consumed the most will be declared the winner.
The Strawberry Queen and her court will be the Judge of the contest.
A contestant will be disqualified should he or she be unable to keep the Shortcake down.
1st, 2nd, and 3rd Prizes will be awarded to the winners in each category. All registrants will be required to read and acknowledge this waiver when entering: I understand that eating large amounts of food in a short amount of time is a potentially hazardous and uncomfortable activity. I know that I should not enter the contest unless I am medically capable and properly trained. I realize that this contest is in good fun, and I agree to be a good sport throughout and following the event. I agree to abide by any decision from the contest officials and will abide by all of the contest rules. I assume all risks associated with eating in this type of event including but not limited to: indigestion, upset stomach, contact with other contestants and a general dislike for Shortcake after I am done, and that all such risks are known and appreciated by me. Having read this waiver and knowing these facts and in consideration of the acceptance of my entry, I, for myself and anyone entitled to act on my behalf, hereby waive and release the City of Lebanon, contest officials, the official judge, contest organizers, event sponsors, sponsor representatives and any/all successors from all claims of liabilities of any kind arising out of my participation in this event. Decision of the official judge will be FINAL.
