Each year, five young ladies are selected to represent the Strawberry Festival as our Princesses, and then the time comes when we are forced to select just one to reign as our Queen. In years past, our Queen's Coronation was hosted in the Lebanon High School Auditorium; but in 2019, Festival organizers decided it was time to revive the tradition of having the Coronation as part of our festivities at the actual festival grounds. We are so happy to once again have the opportunity to host our Queen's Coronation on our own stage, and have our Queen make her formal debut to the Lebanon Community during our Grand Parade on Saturday morning—just like in the “good old days”.
Our selection process for Queen consists of a dinner with community leaders and judges, a final round of interviews, and then our Coronation itself—where each Princess is judged on her formal presentation, an introductory speech, and an answer to an impromptu question. Our Junior Court is also presented during the Coronation proceedings, and even answer some questions of their own! The evening concludes with our former year's Queen bestowing the honor on our newly crowned Queen, and serves as a kick of for the evening's entertainment and festivities. |
